HighlightCam is an iOS/Android application that allows users to create professional-quality movies right from their phone - automatically! You select your favorite pictures & videos on your phone, then HighlightCam automatically chooses the most interesting scenes and edits them together with music and special effects. You can share movies with friends, or even create a movie using clips they’ve shared with you!

It's easy! The first thing you have to do is download the app to your Android or iOS device from iTunes App Store or the Android Market
Subscriptions allow users to create movies that are longer than 30 seconds, access additional themes, and make movies that are HD. Free users will ALWAYS be able to make movies using HighlightCam - Subscriptions just give your movies that extra something-something, so they stand out more.
Themes spice up how your movie looks and interacts. We are continually adding new themes but if you have a specific one that you'd like to request, just let us know! Try out some of our most popular themes like:
Of course! Any music on your phone, you can use. You can also choose music from our library if you want!
Not to worry, your clips are just going to our servers to be processed. To speed up video rendering, we do all of the heavy processing in the cloud. Instead of rendering the movie on your phone, (which would drain your battery, heat it up, and lock up your phone) we securely transfer your content to our much more powerful servers and process it there to save you time. In the future as you create more movies, you'll notice that your upload speed is being reduced. This is due to the fact that you don't have to re-upload the same content twice. Meaning that if you had previously used a clip in another movie, we're not going to make you upload it again for a new one. This saves you time and allows you to view your finished movie more quickly! Cool, huh?
Sorry, no. Because login, video creation, and sharing all require an internet connection, you must be connected to the internet to use HighlightCam.
The first time you use a clip we have to upload it to our secure servers so they can process your movie and return it to you. While this may take time for the initial upload, you won't have to re-upload the clip when you use it in the future. We are continually working on refining our upload/rendering process, and welcome your feedback. If you run into any issues, please contact us at support@hlcam.com and we will get back to you.

First, follow us on Facebook and Twitter, so you’re always up to date. Alternatively, turn on push notifications for HighlightCam by going to Settings on your device and we'll let you know when the newest special effects are released.
HighlightCam works on all iOS devices running 4.3 or higher and Android devices running 2.2 or higher.
Of course, HighlightCam gives you the ability to save your movies directly to your phone!
iOS - From the “My Movies” page, just tap the “Download” icon next to each movie and it will automatically download to your Camera Roll.
Android - From the “Library” page, go to the Movie Details page and hit “Save”. The movie will automatically download to your Gallery.
Once the video has finished processing, you'll get a popup that says "Your HighlightCam Movie is ready!" Pressing "OK" will take you to the Library/My Movies page so you can watch it.
If you've already downloaded the movie, then it's incredibly easy! Once a movie is saved to your Gallery or Camera Roll, the next time the phone syncs the movie will automatically download with all of your other new videos.
Alternatively, if you share a link to the movie to a friend or to yourself, on your movie’s web streaming page there is a “Download” button so you can download the movie directly to your computer.
If you have previously created a HighlightCam account, then you're all set! Movies are associated with your HighlightCam account, not the app itself. If you haven't created a HighlightCam account yet, then the movies associated with only that device until you go to the "Settings" menu and select "Register" to create a free HighlightCam account. This way you can always take your movies with you.

I want to include video clips that are both portrait (vertical) and
landscape (horizontal). Is that OK?

The more clips/pictures you select for your movie, the more opportunities HighlightCam has to select the best scenes. HighlightCam can even make a movie out of a single clip, choosing the best scenes for your movie. Most people prefer to use between five and ten videos/pictures in their movies.
On the "Edit Clips" screen, tapping and hold either the image (iOS) or the three lines on the far right of each clip (android) allows you to drag that clip into a new position within your movie.
That's simple! Simply press the “Re-edit” button on your movie, and your movie’s information will be reloaded for you to change your options again.
Text lets you tell your audience exactly what's happening in a scene. To add text to an existing photo or video:
Android - On the “Select Clips” page, simply tap the “Edit Clips” button and then add captions individually or add a title slide at the top right.
iOS - On the “Edit Clips” page, tap the “T” to add a caption or the “+” to add a title slide.
To cut out that one annoying scene, on the "Edit Clips" screen, navigate to the clip you want to edit and tap the Scissors icon. Then select where you want the video clip to start/end and press “Done/Save”. Easy.
Video can be easily shot in our Android app - simply tap the “Camera” icon on the Home screen. Our iOS app does not currently support shooting video in-app.
For Free users, we’ll give you back a great, 30-second movie every time. If you’re a Premium member, then we’ll automatically recommend a movie length that's dependent on the length of the clips in that movie. But by navigating through the “Options" screen, you can lengthen or shorten the clip however much you'd like - you decide!
Movies that contain clips in both portrait and landscape will be of reduced quality. We will create a movie from this, however, you will see some black bars to make up for the differing sizes of the clips. Most people do not like this result and we do not recommend it.
Rendering can take a minute or more. It all depends on length of the video clips, the special effects chosen, and even your music track. We're continually striving to improve our rendering process, so if you have feedback we'd love to hear it! support@hlcam.com

If you’ve tagged some of your friends in a movie and then shared that movie to Facebook, they’ll simply be notified.
No need to worry, all movies are private unless you actively share your movie’s link with others and/or post it elsewhere. No one can stumble across, search for, or access your movie without your permission. Your movies are safe.
Of course! Movies are associated with your HighlightCam account, not your individual device. So if you create movies on your iPhone then log onto your friend's Android phone, you'll still be able to show him/her your favorite movies.
Once a movie has been created, you can easily share it to Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, or even send it via SMS/email. Tap the “Share” button (iOS) or go to the Movie Details -> Sharing (Android) then select the service that you want to use.
The easiest way to upload to Facebook is from the "Share" menu. Once there, tap the “Facebook” icon and share away!
In iOS, you can turn on location services by going to Settings >> Location Services >> HighlightCam. Make sure the slider says "On" and you're good to go!

If your purchase was made within the app and you need a refund, please contact either Apple or Google directly. If your purchase was not applied to your account, however, definitely contact us right away at support@hlcam.com so we can get you up and making movies ASAP!
HighlightCam is 100% free! All users can always make as many 30-second movies as they want, and share it with their friends. Some users want more themes, longer movies, and HD-quality, so they choose to buy a subscription. But it’s completely up to you!

Uh oh! Could you try to upload it to us again? If that doesn't work and you're still having issues, please email support@hlcam.com with your username and a brief description of the problem and we'll get you squared away.
The best thing to do is to email a link to the movie directly to us so we can investigate the problem. Go to the "Library” or “My Movies" page and go to the “Share” menu. Select the "Email" icon, then send the email to support@hlcam.com with your username and the brief description of "Movie Won't Download".
